A protest rally and gathering were organized by the Chandpur City and Sadar branches of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami demanding five points, including a referendum. Today, on Friday, November 14, in the afternoon, separate processions from various wards of the city converged at the courtyard of Baitul Amin Jame Mosque, where the gathering began. After the assembly, the protest march proceeded along different streets of the city and ended at the New Market. The chief guest at the event was Advocate Md. Shahjahan Mia, MP candidate for Chandpur Sadar-Haimchar constituency and Secretary of the district Jamaat.

He said that the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, yesterday, Thursday, addressed the nation and announced both the election and a referendum on the same day. The nation has been left disappointed and surprised by such an announcement. The Chief Adviser, in pursuit of favoring a single party, ignored important public demands like a referendum before the national election. The country has been freed from fascism through the movements of students and the general public.
